Electronic Dance Music Festivals and Top House Music Concerts

Electronic dance music festivals have taken over the old hip hop and rock and roll concert scene by storm. These festivals have transcended to be more than just music, but they're a venue for people to express themselves openly through music, clothes, paintings, sculptures, and art. Each festival has its own theme, vibe, and unforgettable experiences; however, with mass amounts of different performer line ups, enticing venues, and individual personality which festival is the best fit for you?

One of the largest EDM festivals is the Belgium hosted Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland was created by the same people responsible for Mysteryland in the Netherlands. Tomorrowland is Belgium's massive celebration of EDM festivities and it takes place st the "DreamVille" festival grounds near Brussels. Tomorrowland attracts more than 180,000 fans from all over the world for the three day festival and has had recent performers like Afrojack, Hardwell, Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, and Steve Aoki. The “DreamVille” festival grounds is one of the major parts of this festival that set it apart; the stages are surrounded by forrest and bordered by water, adding to the entire theme and feel of the festival.

The Halloween-themed Monster Massive has risen in popularity over the past few years The annual electronic music festival held the weekend prior to Halloween night every year at the Los Angeles Sports Arena has continued to draw larger crowds. It hosts some of the most esteemed artists in the electronic dance music scene. The Halloween theme allows for Monster Massive goers to take some outrageous and creative twists on normal festival attire. Performers that have graced the Monster Massive stages have included Moby, Nero, and Armin Van Buuren.

Electric Daisy Carnival, or more commonly known as EDC, is an 3-day festival that includes rides, extraordinary performer lineups, and special carnival feel. It is the biggest electronic festival outside of Europe. In 2010, EDC pulled in a crowd of 185,000 people in Los Angeles. In 2011, the festival moved to Las Vegas to accommodate more fans, and in 2012 the crowds were rumored to hit almost 300,000 people. Some of the artists that have performed at EDC included Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto, Above & Beyond, Cosmic Gate, Ferry Corsten, and Calvin Harris. This past year, the group Insomniac that puts on EDC threw not only a three-day Vegas show, but a Puerto Rico show and the first ever New York City EDM festival.

Sensation, or Sensation White, originated in Amsterdam and is held during the first Saturday of July every year at the Amsterdam Arena. It’s renowned for extraordinary stage shows, acrobats, light shows, and fireworks. All festival goers are required to come only dressed in white, and the stage and arena is designed to match. The all white theme and creative stage decorations are some of the major reasons why 30,000 people attend every year. Sensation has become so popular that it is now not only held at the Amsterdam Arena, but now travels putting on multiple festivals all around Europe.

In Miami, the Ultra Music Festival is held as the East Coast's biggest and baddest EDM festival. Ultra is an outdoor held during the Winter Music Conference in the month of March. The three day event sees over 200 performers hit its stages, and a crowd of over 165,000. Artists that have made the trip to South Beach to perform have included Deadmau5, Tiesto, Benny Benasi, Skrillex, Tiësto, Avicii, and Kaskade. Ultra is so popular among EDM fans that it sold out 150,000 tickets six weeks before the event date in 2011. Ultra's star studded lineups and urban location in Bayfront Park has made it one of the most popular EDM festivals in the world.
